During the EFR Instructor Course, you will build on your skills as and Emergency First Responder and focus your instructional abilities to teach these skills to others. The Instructor Course provides you with the additional training necessary to teach the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid), Care for Children and AED use. Through a multimedia of independent study, classroom sessions and practical teaching assignments, you learn to conduct the course. Included is instruction on how to structure learning, the requirements of performance-based training and your role as the instructor in the learning environment. You will also learn how to motivate students, evaluate student knowledge, present course content effectively, become proficient in developing student's hands on skills practice session and are taught how to present an effective scenario-based learning experience, and how to market your classes.

 


WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Through knowledge development and practical training, the PADI Open Water Diver course teaches you the basics of safe diving.  The course consists of three main parts: 

  • Knowledge Development (through online eLearning or book work) to understand the basic principles and theory of scuba diving

  • A one-day classroom session (8:30am-5pm)


WHAT YOUR SCHEDULE LOOKS LIKE:

  • Online homework which is fun, informative, and self-guided (approx. 15 hours)

  • A one-day classroom and pool session (8:30am-5:30pm).

    • This full day begins at In2Deep for the class session and then heads to the Santa Monica Swim Center, located at Santa Monica College

  • 4 Open Water checkout dives done in the ocean on two separate days

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Before jumping in the water, you must have:

  • Completed the Knowledge Reviews & Quizzes for each section in the PADI Open Water eLearning

  • Pocket mask

  • Barrier Gloves


WHAT IN2DEEP WILL PROVIDE:

  • 1 PADI EFR Certification


WHO CAN TAKE THIS COURSE: 

To be able to take this course, you must be:

  • 18 years or older

  • Current certification for EFR (or similar) with in 24 month (or a refresher is required)
